Nutcracker Birthday Party

Caroline Carlisle's 4th Birthday:
Sugar Plum Fairy Tea!

My CC girl decided an entire year before her birthday that she wanted a "Pink Ballet Nutcracker Tea Party" so that is just what she got!
We went to the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea presented by the Collin County Ballet the past 3 years and CC is always mesmerized by the "real ballerinas".
So we called the day after the production last year and booked the front 5 tables!
From there we decided that we wanted to do cake at home before so it felt like a birthday party and not just like a day out with the girls!
We set the stage in our living room with pipe and drape and gorgeous twinkle lights.
I knew I wanted huge ornaments and a giant ballon swag hanging overhead.
It turned out beyond perfect and was the most magical day!

French Blue + Blush Pink Great Room

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!
If you know anything about our family, you know we love to entertain and our
home is constantly filled with people we love!
I designed our "Great Room" with children, family + entertaining in mind!
As I have mentioned before my style is ever evolving and in our new home
I decided to use french blue with pops of blush pink!

My goal was to create a warm + inviting space to make a beautiful backdrop
for my babies to grow up in!
We added new pieces + made sure to keep sentimental pieces like my grandparents original copy of "The Father of the Bride" and my husbands families book about how they settled Pasadena, Texas!
It's those pieces you collect when you travel that hold the memories + add character to any space!

I linked the "big" items below! Please let me know if you want details to anything else!

Light + Bright Kitchen

Welcome to our Light + Bright Kitchen

There is nothing I love more than a white kitchen.
It just feels so clean + fresh! The perfect backdrop for any type of decor!
In our last home we had a stark white kitchen backsplash and all bronze fixtures (which I still love). When we decided to build again,  not only did I want all the cool tones, like gray, that I love but wanted to interject some warmth back into my style by adding grays with warm under tones, gold fixtures + a Calcutta Gold Marble backsplash.
While I love Carrara Marble (all gray tones) and my entire Master Bath is covered in it, probably one of my favorite things about our entire house is the Calcutta Gold backsplash.
I love how it's ever varying in tone and mixes the warm golds with the cool grays so magically.
I also love that we chose to extend the back splash all the way to the  ceiling instead of adding upper cabinetry. This decision was made easier since we have plenty of space for storage.

Once we selected the backsplash, I knew I wanted a pure white kitchen counter top with a clean straight edge finish + a gold pot filler.  (Pro Tip: add plumbing for a pot filler when building, as it's harder to add after the house is completed).
As for pulls, I looked at every single style known to man and landed on these that I saw on another blog. They're light, elegant and tie-back in with the touch of gold.  (Pro Tip: for those building, consider adding things like a double dishwasher, built in trash and recycling compartments, built in spice racks, and pot and pan drawers under the range. These changes are harder to add after completed.)

Lighting is always a favorite of mine. It's like the jewelry for the house.
To me, it's tricky to pick before I can see the finished product but I'm happy with the gold lanterns in the kitchen for now. They will be the first thing I swap out if I ever redo my kitchen. I'm a girl of creative change and I've seen so many cute kitchen lighting options since selecting these.
(Pro Tip: we (and by we, I mean Mitch) dusted these with gold spray paint to match them perfectly with the shade of gold that matches the rest of the house.)

This Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" is a special touch as it's a 1st print edition and my late mom gave this to us as part of our wedding gift.
